History

Established in 1922, the Toledo Memorial Park was originally comprised of 21 separate and distinct sections, all blended harmoniously into a beautiful natural park.  Many of the sections were specifically designated to honor traditions of different segments of our diverse and growing community.  The Park is non-sectarian and non-denominational, although some sections have been set aside for specific religious or fraternal organizations such as the Moose, Elks, Odd Fellows and Greek Orthodox Church.  Other sections are centered on unique sculptural or landscape features.
A special section was also set aside for heroes of The War Between the States and World War I, and Decoration Day today still features military and musical ceremonies at the Veterans’ section of the Park.
